Dell latitude headphone jack not working

There appears a Dell Assistant where you have to select some Del devices, but I have no Dell headset? I have phone 2 houers with the Dell Support hotline but no change.

You should have an option for just a regular Headset, but even if you have a non-Dell headset, you should still be able to use the "Dell Headset" profile. Can you include a screenshot of the pop-up you're seeing? That's an important step because that's how you tell the driver how to configure the audio jack properly for the type of device you plugged in. I can't read the language but the headset should be just below the Blue Dell option.

Generally speaking, for an audio device to show up in Device Manager it should have a DAC digital-to-analog converter or an ADC analog-to-digital converter.

From the computer's point of view the headset jack socket is just an appendage of the Realtek device, and the headset is just an appendage of the jack. I used the term "generally speaking" because there are exceptions when a device can actively identify itself as a device, often via a device driver, but most things plugged into the headset jack are detected, not identified, by a change in impedance.

You could test for hardware failure or fix the software if it is a software issue by resetting the laptop back to the original factory configuration, but for many people it would be worth a few dollars to try to avoid doing that.

Usually when headphones are not detected by the Realtek driver but are when using the native driver, the solution is to completely remove the Realtek software the way you did it and then install an earlier version of the Realtek driver.

What about the Dell System Software second? It might not matter in 7 but with some of the Windows operating systems you get an error message if trying to install the audio driver prior to the System Software in a Dell laptop.

It's odd because your audio is working okay with the native Windows audio driver that you are using now, and I would expect the headphone jack to work with that driver too. Try the Dell Diagnostics audio tests if you still have it to check for a hardware problem. I did tried the audio Max driver. My solution was to grab the appxbundle file from the Microsoft Store and "sideload" that onto the systems. For existing systems we've already given to users, I created an SCCM package containing that appxbundle and the prerequisites it needs. The pre-reqs probably aren't necessary - just some. To install them during imaging, SCCM doesn't let you install appx applications in a task sequence, which is strange and unfortunate.

I'm including the source files in a package instead, and using a powershell command to install. I haven't tested that out yet but in theory it should work. All of our older laptops get their MaxxAudio installed just fine during the driver install.
